How Twice the Ice Supports Communities

Twice the Ice and parent company Ice House America are dedicated to building exceptional ice and water vending machines, and helping business owners create thriving businesses. But we’re also dedicated to supporting our communities. Working with Folds of Honor and the Vet Fran network, we empower veterans and their families to reach their dreams. Working with emergency responders, local partners, and ice vending machines owners, we also help communities heal after hurricanes and tornadoes.

How Twice the Ice Supports Communities

Folds of Honor

Folds of Honor provides scholarships for the families of fallen or disabled service members to help them achieve their dreams. Each scholarship provides up to $5,000 for tuition, books, fees, dormitory housing and more for children or young adults completing primary or secondary education. Twice the Ice and Ice House America understands how important this mission is. That’s why we donate 15% of all revenue from the ICE2U app to Folds of Honor.

The VetFran Network

About 9% of businesses are majority-owned by veterans, amounting to about 2.52 million businesses. Many veterans go on to form their own independent businesses, including start-ups and small businesses, while others start franchises. The VetFran network connects vets with over 600 franchise companies, including Twice the Ice. Twice the Ice and Ice House America work with the VetFran network to ensure veterans have the educational tools, skills, and resources they need to start their own franchise business.

Working With Veterans

The skills and experience gained in the armed services helps veterans become hard-working, disciplined, and dedicated employees and franchise owners. We work with veterans of all types throughout our company, including Twice the Ice owners and Ice House America employees. We are very proud of our veterans and are continually looking for ways to forge new relationships with service members.

Decades of Hurricane Disaster Relief

From Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005 to Hurricane Ida in 2021, dozens of hurricanes and tropical storms have destroyed billions of dollars worth of property and essential infrastructure across the American Southeast, leaving millions homeless and even more without access to clean water. Ice House America understands how critical it is to provide access to clean drinking water during these catastrophes.

Twice the Ice has stepped in to provide aid after every major catastrophe in the southeast over the last ten years, including Hurricanes Matthew, Irma, Harvey, Michael, Maria, Dorian, and many more. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, Twice the Ice donated a half a million pounds of ice and two large Ice House vending units to the Houston Astrodome to give relocated storm victims access to water and ice. Twice the Ice produced over 100,000 pounds of ice during Hurricanes Irma and Harvey. We will continue to help communities damaged by similar catastrophic storms in the future, and hope to provide safe, clean drinking water and ice where it’s needed most.

Tornado Disaster Relief

When a massive EF4 multi-vortex tornado ripped through Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, and surrounding areas, it left behind massive devastation. Thousands of residents’ homes were destroyed, and critical infrastructure left many more without access to clean water or electricity. Ice House America responded quickly and mobilized two generated-powered ice and water vending units, and delivered them to the hardest-hit areas. These machines helped residents tap into and use safe water sources, and provided additional purification. The ice machines also allowed residents to keep perishable items cold without access to electricity.

From business opportunities to scholarship support to natural disaster relief response, Ice House America and Twice the Ice are proud to step in, step up, and help out. We understand the importance of supporting our communities to help them grow and heal. We will continue to provide support where it’s needed most, and we will continue to look for ways to make a difference. If you believe in this mission as well, and you’d like to be a part of a business that believes in improving the lives of others, contact us about employment or franchise opportunities.
